Description

The Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) and Ministry of Labour, Training, and Skills Development (MLTSD), are seeking a Software as a Service (SaaS) Laboratory Information Management Solution to replace legacy information technology applications with a single integrated solution that will meet all business needs for the three essential OPS laboratories that require a laboratory information management system (LIMS) to digitize all components of laboratory operations:

• the Engineering Materials Office (EMO) Laboratory of the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO)
• the Radiation Protection Services (RPS) Laboratory of the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) and
• the Materials Testing Laboratory (MTL) of the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD).

The multi-ministry LIMS will enable the MTO and MLTSD laboratories to modernize business processes and strengthen customer/client service. In a rapidly changing environment, laboratories require the ability to adapt their processes and workflows to meet the needs of their customers and stakeholders. The modernization will allow our laboratories to be able to be timelier and more expedient and provide data on demand.

A modern, innovative LIMS software solution will allow the laboratories to become digital, data driven and put data at the center of decision making, will increase the efficiency and speed of government operations and decisions.
Scope of Work
The project is multi-ministry, involving Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Labour, Training, and Skills Development, and three laboratories: Engineering Materials Office (EMO), Radiation Protection Service (RPS), and Material Testing Laboratory (MTL).

The project involves the procurement of a modern Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software solution that will be used to manage and track laboratory samples including receipt, testing, storage and disposal. The LIMS will also support all laboratory elements involving quality control, quality assurance and health and safety.

By moving forward with this initiative, it will eliminate the redundancies in the business process, support business by providing and maintaining modern application and infrastructure, provide workflow automation internally and increase the efficiency and speed of government operations and decisions.
