Description

Northern Health is looking to increase the existing Hydro service to accommodate the new equipment at the Bulkley Valley Hospital in Smithers, BC. While reviewing the electrical requirements for a new AHU to the building load it was noted that the existing single line drawings were not up to date. The current max capacity of a 1000A service is 800A peak demand. After the New AHU is added the Service Load will be 782A, leaving only 18A total spare capacity for the building. After completing a feasibility study with various options it has been determined that the best course of action is to completely upgrade the incoming Transformers, Main distribution and Emergency Generator to meet the current and future needs of the Hospital. The project scope will be the review of the existing power and emergency power systems.
