Description

The ministry of Jobs, Economy and Innovation’s Economic Analysis and Modeling (EAM) unit is responsible for informing the analysis of economic impacts to Alberta from policy options under consideration, taking into account significant national and global trends and circumstances.
There are two broad categories of analysis performed by the Economic Analysis and Modeling division: those with impacts that occur within the status quo economy, and those that imply change to Alberta’s underlying economic structure. The ministry expects the majority of its workload to be comprised of the latter as current and future government priorities are developed and pursued.
The ministry’s Current Solution conducts economic impact analysis to support program designs and guide decision-making within different ministries and stakeholders as needed. However, the ministry is looking to transition to a more comprehensive framework with focus on more complex scenarios.
