Description

Introduction
PMG Technologies is planning to upgrade the high-speed lighting system control of the crash laboratory of Transport Canada. PMG Technologies is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Transport Canada Motor Vehicle Test Center (MVTC) located in Blainville, Québec.
Work and Equipment Required
The crash lab consists of the following three separate test areas:

The frontal collision area
The side collision area
The catapult

The original manufacturer of the lighting system is KHS.
PMG requires that the HMI light control of these test areas be upgraded to work with computers running under Windows 10 operating system. The control software currently runs on Windows XP.
Each of these test areas is equipped with a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) which also needs to be upgraded. Hardware upgrades such as PLCs are required to enable Ethernet communications between control computers and PLCs.
The software and hardware upgrade must be 100% compatible with the existing KHS lights hardware for high-speed video coverage installed in the crash laboratory.
The work to upgrade a test area must be carried out without compromising or interrupting the tests in the other 2 test areas.
