The intent of the Security Fencing Work is:

Construction of security measures including fencing, signage and other features to enhance the overall security of the Giant Mine.
Protect the environment, the public, and the mine site infrastructure and facilities.
Keep the mine site in compliance with the NWT Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulations and applicable requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) unless otherwise specified.

This procurement is set aside under the federal government’s Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business (PSAB) program [A3000T (2014-11-27)]. Bidders must qualify and certify that either:

The bidder is an Aboriginal business that is a sole proprietorship, band, limited company, co-operative, partnership or not-for-profit organization.

The bidder is either a joint venture consisting of two or more Aboriginal businesses or a joint venture between an Aboriginal business and a non-Aboriginal business.

Supplemental mandatory pre-bid meeting/site tour on Dec 19, 2018 at 09:00 MST C-Dry Building at Giant Mine, Yellowknife NWT. Bidders communicate with M. Anderson no later than three (3) work days before to confirm attendance and names of the person(s) attending. Bidders required to sign attendance form. Bidders who do not attend or send a representative will be rejected as non-compliant.
It is mandatory that all persons attending the site visit have the proper safety footwear (CSA approved green triangle). Hard hats, reflective vests and safety glasses are also required. Bidder personnel/individuals who do not have the proper safety attire will be denied access to the site.
Non-registered Bidders will not be allowed on the site. Due to limited space, each company attending will be limited to two (2) representatives. All travel and living costs associated with travel to Yellowknife to attend the mandatory site tour/pre-bid meeting will be borne by the contractor or their representative.
