Description:
York’s Building & Fire Code Compliance, Facilities Development, Facilities Services, intends to select qualified service provider(s) to provide technical services on fire alarm, fire sprinkler, fire standpipe, fire pump and special fire suppression systems in buildings at the Keele Campus, 4700 Keele Street, Toronto; and the Glendon Campus, 2275 Bayview Avenue, Toronto.
York Fire Prevention Inspectors check, inspect, and test fire protection equipment listed in the Ontario Fire Code. York Facilities Services maintains the fire sprinkler, fire pump and fire standpipe systems where permissible by licensed plumbers. York Fire Electricians maintain the fire EXIT signs, emergency lighting fixtures and fire alarm systems where permissible without involving system programming. The authorized fire alarm system service providers maintain and update their proprietary programming of fire alarm system.
York Staff has the first right to repair the fire protection and fire alarm systems. University on-call Maintenance Zone Supervisors in Facilities Services or on-duty Fire Prevention Inspectors in the Office of Building & Fire Code Compliance make the request for technical services after the University Staff determines that the work is beyond the in-house technical capabilities.
