Background
The University of Waterloo is selecting a certified Avaya partner as our IP Phone supplier based on the criteria listed in Section 3.20 of the RFP.
The University’s intent is to establish a (2) two-year contract (with a one year optional extension) beginning approximately May 1, 2018 with a certified Avaya partner whereby releases of 100 telephones will be made at various times during the period of the contract as per the University’s requirements. The estimated minimum quantity purchased throughout the period of the contract will be 400 telephones, up to an estimated maximum quantity of 750 telephones over the initial two year contract term.
The University requires the NTYS05BFE6 1140E IP Deskphone - Graphite (refurbished) with English keycaps - no power supply (RoHS).
The new Avaya IP Phones will be installed by University personnel in various university buildings as required.
The University of Waterloo standardized Avaya/Avaya 1140 IP phones in all new buildings. This decision was based on phone features, integration with our PBX and ease of support. The University uses an Avaya/Avaya Communication Server 1000 (CS 1000) PBX which is a proprietary system. The only IP phones that will work with this PBX are the Avaya 1140 and Avaya 1120. We chose the 1140 model because it has better features than the 1120.
