Background:
The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) facility at University of Waterloo houses five superconducting NMR spectrometers. The facility serves as a core facility providing routine chemical characterization and advanced analyses to all faculties across campus with over forty (40) research groups and supporting off-campus research activities from Velocity and the School of Pharmacy. The service provided at the facility addresses a wide array of research activities into chemical, materials, medicinal, environmental, construction, and health science.
The NMR facility is seeking for a complete Helium Recovery System that integrates the collection, purification, and re-liqueficationof the helium boil-off from the spectrometers. Implementation would ensure a secure supply for our research community, and recycling helium is both financially and environmentally sustainable. Meanwhile, having a local supply of helium at the facility would also reduce our carbon footprint by decreasing the number of purchases of fresh helium.
