At the University of Waterloo, the Annual Giving department is responsible for acquiring, renewing, retaining, and stewarding donors who give between $1 - $24,999 across the university. Annual Giving donors are of utmost importance to UWaterloo as these donors provide a steady stream of support for our students and programs, yearly. In turn, Annual Giving helps students thrive every day as donations raised through Annual Giving helps all faculties, schools, colleges, and academic support units in various capacities through a broad range of appeals and stewardship activities a year. Right now, the Annual Giving team primarily communicates with donors using bulk methods such as: email and direct mail. In 2023 our direct mail program raised over $1.4 million dollars. In the future we plan to enhance our direct mail and email programs by adding micro-segments to enhance communications in a personal way. This may include speaking to donors from the lens of the specific faculty, area, or unit one typically gives to, and/or including merge sentences within bulk communications to recognize past support based on constituency.
