The Waterloo Commercialization Office (‘WatCo’) goal is to promote the commercialization of leading edge intellectual property opportunities arising from uWaterloo’s research enterprise by supporting entrepreneurial activities leading to startup company creation, securing licensing partnerships with existing companies, and promoting ongoing research partnerships with its commercialization partners. Presently, WatCo is looking to secure the services of a consultant to provide a market assessment and market entry strategy for two technology opportunities in its intellectual property portfolio:

The University of Waterloo requires the final market assessment report within an estimated 10-12 weeks from the date of formal award of the contract (= issuance of the Purchase Order).
A maximum of 2 weeks extension of time (for completion) might be considered for items not under consultant’s control (e.g. UW staff are not available when consultant needs their feedback, when a key interviewee is away, etc.) The total budget for each project is a maximum of $19,500 CAD (not including HST).
Qualified bidders will have demonstrated past experience in one or more of:
- Having been involved in innovation management and strategy;
- Having worked on product development, marketing and/or commercialization of the predictive analytics market, specifically, artificial intelligence based forecasting or predictive analytics technologies in fin-tech, supply chain, insurance or other relevant companies;
- Having provided similar market assessment/intelligence reports related to those fields listed in ii) above.
The successful consultant shall have a formal degree and/or experience/knowledge related to the requirements above and correlated to their success. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated commercial development experience, such as product development, validation/ de-risking, and commercialization experience working in the domains specified above.
