The Unversity of Ottawa is pleased to invite qualified proponents to submit a proposal for an X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) Spectrometer for nanomaterials and quantum dots based flexible devices.
General Description of the Project:
The Center for Hybrid Interfaces and Intelligent Thin-Films (HIIT) is a partnership between academia and industry to bring transformational advances in hybrid thin films and devices as well as convergence with more established technologies such as bulk semiconductors. HIIT will accelerate the translation from materials development to prototype production by providing world-class expertise and infrastructure required to tailor and process advanced hybrid thin films and interfaces. Understanding the interactions between thin films of various hybrid materials, such as organic-inorganic, organic-metal, and high throughput, low-cost, and low-power consumption roll-to-roll (R2R) manufacturing approaches will offer Canada and the world revolutionary innovations in technology that will bring tremendous positive economic, health, social, and environmental impacts. Innovations include the realization of low cost smart labels that detect food spoilage and air borne pathogens; biometric sensors integrated into textiles that can identify disease in human sweat for early detection and prevention, and more. HIIT will provide HQP, a unique strategic education resting on multidisciplinary integration of basic scientific knowledge, foundational technologies, and engineered systems. This is instrumental in filling the skilled-worker gap in relevant job sectors. HIIT is an indispensable resource that highlights the cutting-edge research capabilities in Canada.
Budget:
The University has an estimated budget of approximately $225,000 CAD before applicable taxes for costs associated with the purchase and implementation of an XRF Spectrometer. This is including, but not limited to, integration costs, software costs, installation costs, licensing costs, maintenance costs. The University reserves the right to award a contract to a proponent who offers a solution with a total cost that is either higher, or lower, than the amount provided herein.
Alternate Proposals:
Proponents reserve the right to provide multiple alternative solutions (such as comparable goods, various methods or levels of service, different options, etc) within their submission. All alternative proposals must comply with the requirements of the RFP. Each proposal must have its own Technical and Financial submission, and be contained in a separate, clearly identified, folder. Each proposal must be complete and independent of other proposals offered. Each Alternate Proposal will be evaluated independently of others from the same proponent.
