The University of Ottawa is pleased to invite qualified proponents to submit a proposal for Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography Systems (UHPLC) Systems for analysis of small molecule metabolites.
General Description:
The Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography Systems (UHPLC) Systems will be used to understand the origin of metabolism and life by identifying conditions where nonenzymatic precursors to metabolic pathways emerge spontaneously under mineral catalysis. The research project requires that we quantify primary metabolites produced by these experiments. The quantification will be accomplished by comparing LC peak integration to alibration curves of authentic metabolite standards. As it will also be interesting to know the mass of the compounds detected in order to better establish their identity, a single quad mass detector is desired.
Proponents proposal should include two (2) UHPLC systems equipped with UV detectors. Furthermore, one (1) of the proposed UHPLC should be equipped with a Single Quad Mass Spectrometer (MS) Detector. If required, a Nitrogen Generator should also be included as part of the proposal. The proposed systems should include the required computer hardware and software to carry out the type of quantification described above. Lastly, Proponents proposal should include, as an option, a selection of UHPLC colums available (e.g. HELIC, Normal Phase, Reversed Phase, etc.).
Specifications listed in Appendix A – Technical Specifications Compliance Form of this RFP are the mandatory minimum requirements for the Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography Systems (UHPLC) Systems.
Mandatory Minimum Requirements for the Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography Systems (UHPLC) Systems:
1.0 - UHPLC System (Quantity 2)
1.1 The proposed system must be equiped with a UV detector capable of monitoring 4 or more wavelengths simultaneously
1.2 The proposed system must be equiped with a quaternary pump capable to provide at least 1000 bar of pressure.
1.3 The proposed system must be able to function in reverse phase mode.
2.0 - Single Quad Mass Spectrometer (MS) Detector (Quantity 1)
2.1 The proposed Single Quad Mass Spectrometer (MS) Detector (Quantity 1), must have an extended mass range (minimum mass of 32 AMU or lower, and maximum mass of 1000 or higher) for routine LC-MS analyses.
3.0 - Nitrogen Generator
3.1 If Nitrogen gas is typically used for the functioning of the Mass Spectrometer Detector, a Nitrogen Generator must be provided.
4.0 - Computer and Software
4.1 The proposed system must be equipped with a computer, monitor, and required components.
4.2 The proposed system must include a software to collect and analyze the data from UHPLC analyses.
5.0 - Warranty, Installation and Training
5.1 The proposed system must include 3 years manufacturer’s warranty, including parts, maintenance, and on-site service.
5.2 The proposed system must include installation and on-site training.
6.0 Other
6.1 All electrical components must have CSA (Canadian Standards Association) certification, or accepted equivalent as per Electrical Safety Authority Recognized Certification Mark at the following link: https://esasafe.com/electrical-products/recognized-certification-marks/
Otherwise, all electrical components must be able to undergo the appliable electrical inspection, and/or, certification, without voiding the system warranty.
