UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA – Advance Contract Award Notice # 2018049-ACAN – Strategic support for Francophone Affairs in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Advance Contract Award Notice (ACAN) is to post the University of Ottawa’s (uOttawa) intention to enter into contractual arrangements with Jeanne Drouin MD, Ph.D MHPE to provide the services identified in the requirements noted below.
This ACAN provides prospective service providers the opportunity to demonstrate that they are capable of satisfying all requirements set out in this Advance Contract Award Notice by way of submitting a Statement of Capabilities on or before the posting end date.
SCOPE OF WORK FOR PROPOSED SERVICE PROVIDER
The Vice-Dean for Francophone Affairs needs the services of Dr. Jeanne Drouin to provide strategic and operational support to assist Francophone Affairs to fulfill its mandate. In addition to support of the various training programs, the mandate of Francophone Affairs includes recruitment, the development of clinical training location, professional development and teacher training for teachers and supervisors, research, the creation of educational materials in French and creating opportunities for international exchange and collaboration. The Francophone Affairs mandate has a national mission through funding from the National Health Training Consortium.
More specifically, the responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Strategic support to the Vice-Dean of Francophone Affairs
- Support related to the development of strategic directions for Francophone Affairs and their implementation
- Support related to the development of the strategic orientations of the Francophone Affairs Research axis and their implementation
- Strategic support related to the Chair of Research in Medical Pedagogy (under Francophone Affairs) and the implementation of its four strategic axes
- Support for the possible development of a master's program in medical education in French at the Faculty of Medicine
- Strategic support related to expanding the mandate of Francophone Affairs
- Support for the writing of scientific articles including the high-level review of some of these publications
- Through the mandate of Francophone Affairs, supports the development, fulfillment and maintenance of the Francophonie within the Faculty of Medicine
- Support for the Medicine and the Humanities program in the event that this support is linked to the Francophone component
REQUIREMENTS
The resource assigned to this mandate from the service provider requires at a minimum:
Education:
- MD
- PhD
- MHPE (Masters degree in health professionals' education)
Work Locally: The majority of the work is done on site at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa..
Specialized Work Experience:
- A minimum of 20 years of experience working in Francophonie in a minority setting
- Experience working in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and more specifically on projects related to the Francophone component
- Research experience
- Experience in writing peer-reviewed scientific articles
- Experience in medical education
- Experience as a teacher / preceptor
- Practical experience of medicine in a minority setting
General Work Experience: A minimum of 20 years of experience in medicine, research and medical education, including the provision of training, all in connection with the Francophonie
Skills and Expertise:
- Proven reputation in Canadian Francophonie and medicine
- Experience in providing strategic support in a field related to French medicine
- Research experience
- Experience in delivering courses
- Experience as a preceptor
- Experience in writing scientific articles
- Experience in medical education
Language requirements:
- French (high level)
- English (functional ability)
