2017061-T-RFP - SUPERCONDUCTING NANOWIRE SINGLE-PHOTON DETECTOR (SNSPD)

The Unversity of Ottawa is pleased to invite qualified proponents to submit a proposal for superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPD) and associated electronics and cryogenics to perform single photoncoincidence counting in experiments for quantum imaging and fundamental studies in photon entanglement. As such, it is essential that the detectors have very high quantum efficiency across a large bandwidth, good timing accuracy, and produce very few dark counts.
 
The instrumentation will include four fibre-coupled superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors and the associated electronics and cryogenic systems for their operation. It is essential that the detectors have very high efficiency across a broad bandwidth. Two of the detectors must have good quantum efficiency in a wavelength band that includes 1310 to 1550 nm. The other two detectors must have good quantum efficiency in a wavelength band that includes 750 to 850 nm.  All of the detecotsdetectors should have good timing accuracy with a short deadtime and produce very few dark accidental (dark) counts.
