2020-40362 - RFSQ General Contractor for Design Build Health Sciences Facility

This Request for Supplier Qualification (RFSQ) is an invitation by the University of Ottawa (University/Owner) to General Contractors (Proponents) to submit proposals to be prequalified for a large Design Build project at the Lees Campus, which includes the demolition of Blocks B, C and D, renovation of Blocks E and A, excavation of contaminated soils, and the construction of a new building approximately 22,000 square meters (including 6,000 square meters of shell space).
The University aspires to consolidate the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Lees Campus within the constraints of the project. The buildings in this Campus have been underutilized over the past 10 years and the infrastructure, mechanical and electrical systems have outlived their useful life. The updated facility will be constructed in the existing site and the University is choosing the Design Build model to create it. The current schedule calls for the following:
• DB Package released to Pre-Qualified Bidders August 2020
• Contract Award in January 2021,
• Demolition of Blocks B, C & D start in March 2021,
• Renovation of Block E and A start in March 2021
• Construction of the new building start in July 2021, and
• Completion of the facility modernization design build by June 2023.
