The Unviersity of Ottawa is seeking to prequalify mechanical contractors to act as subcontractors under a General Contractor for the replacemnt of six Cooling Towers on Campus with four new Evapco towers. A separate prequalification is underway for General Contractors and firms will not be able to be prequalified for both. The scheduled timeframes for the work is from September 2019 through June 2020. A cooling tower has been preselected from HTS Engineering Ltd and is the Evapco Model USS 112-3L18 and the mechanical subcontractor will be expected to order 4 units from the distributor at the quoted price.
The work includes:
- Demolition and removal of the existing cooling towers 1 to 6 and associated components;
- Mechanical work (including modifications to the condenser water and make-up water piping, etc., new controls valves and associated controls to tie to existing automation system) related to the installation of the new cooling towers 1 to 4; the new cooling towers 1 to 4 that will replace the existing cooling towers 1 to 6 already have been pre-selected; prequalification of general contractors for this project is currently in process (via separate RFSQ);
- and any other mechanical work required to complete this Project.
