The University of Ottawa is seeking to prequalify General Contractors for two projects to modernize the HVAC systems in Montpetit Hall. One project is in the pool and the other in the gymnasium. A separate prequalification process is underway for qualified mechanical subcontractors. Firms will not be allowed to prequalify as both General Contractor and Mechanical Subcontractor. The work is to begin for the Pool in November 2019 and be complete in June 2020. The gymnasium project wil be one year later. The work for the pool project includes:
- Asbestos abatement as required;
- Demolition and removal of the existing ventilation system for the pool including dehumidification unit and associated components;
- Structural work including platform, guardrails, stairs, possible reinforcement etc.
- Mechanical work including metal and fabric ductwork, piping, heat exchangers, pumps, etc.
- Electrical work related to the installation of the new roof-mounted custom air handling unit to perform ventilation, exhaust and dehumidification. Prequalification of mechanical contractors for this project is currently in process via separate RFSQ;
- and any other work required to complete this Project.
Proposals are due before 3:00:00 on September 12, 2019.
The University intends to award two (2) CCDC2, 2008 Stipulated Price Contract for the two projects. The contract documents will include the provisions of this RFSQ and the University of Ottawa’s Supplementary Conditions to the CCDC2, 2008
