Description

This Request for Proposal (RFP) is an invitation by the University to prospective firms to submit Proposals for the provision of consultant services for the exterior rehabilitation and roof renewal project at the University of Ottawa’s Hagen Hall.

Hagen Hall was built in 1931 and is located at 115 Séraphin-Marion. The building is a 3-storey flat roofed institutional building. It contains approximately 1600 sq. m. within its interior over three floors.

In 2016, the University of Ottawa engaged an architectural firm (MTBA) to prepare a Conservation Assessment and Exterior Envelope Review for Hagen Hall. The primary goal of the assessment was to provide recommendations on appropriate conservation treatments to address deficiencies in the observed conditions, with specialized attention to the building’s character-defining elements. Based on this study, the University has identified conservation work that is to be undertaken through this project.

The scope of services includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Design and prepare construction documents for the restoration of the building envelope and roof renewal;
Feasibility study for the roof to determine option for conventional roof or green roof;
Floor analysis for insulation (Delta thermal insulation);
Cost estimating.

Construction of the Hagen Hall Exterior Rehabilitation & Roofing Renewal project will be done through the traditional Design-Bid-Build (CCDC2) with full design documents and specifications developed by Architect.

The University intends to award one (1) contract which will be an OAA-600 2013 with July 1, 2018 Amendments, including the University of Ottawa’s Supplementary Conditions to the OAA-600 2013 which can be found in Appendix N, and the provisions of this RFP and its addenda.
