The requested breakthrough gas adsorption analyzer is a critical piece of infrastructure required to evaluate the performance of porous materials for clean energy applications. This emcompasses processes such as pre-combustion and post-combustion CO2 capture, as well as oxyfuel combustion, which are at the forefront of new technologies for clean power generation and storage. This piece of equipement is complementary to existing gas adsorption analyzers and will enable to expand the scope of the researchers by providing access to measurements that would mimick the industrial processes in question, a key component in advancing such clean energy alternatives.
Mandatory Requirements:
BREAKTHROUGH GAS ADSORPTION ANALYZER
1.1 Must allow for activation of samples, including in-situ preparation at temperatures up to a minimum of 400 oC
1.2 Must be suitable for microporous and mesoporous samples, including materials based on metal-organic frameworks, covalent organic frameworks and zeolites
1.3 Must be suitable for sample masses ranging as low as 50 mg to multigram analysis (>1 g)
1.4 Must allow for evaluating the adsorption behaviour of a mixture of gases, including CO2, H2, N2, CH4 and CO
1.5 Must be able to evaluate the selectivity of the adsorbent material for one specific gas over another. This includes the adsorbent materials identified in Criteria 1.2 and the gases in Criteria 1.4
1.6 Must include a software for generating reports of the analysis
1.7 Must include a computer to perform the analyses and generate the required reports
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Must include 1 year standard manufacturer’s warranty.
2.2 Must include installation and on-site training.
2.3 The proposed equipment must be functional, successfully tested and field-proven, as well as commercially available. Prototypes will not be accepted.
