Description

BACKGROUND:
Notice is hereby given by the University of Ottawa of the intent to enter into a contract with Perkin Elmer to procure:

Perkin Elmer Opera Phenix

This item will be integrated into and controlled by the existing robotics system and image analysis server located in the High Throughput Screening Laboratory in the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute II building connected to the University of Ottawa.

PROCESS:
Suppliers that consider their equipment functional, successfully tested, readily available and fully compliant to the ACAN minimum requirements may submit, in writing, a statement of specifications to the contact person identified in this Notice, on or before the closing date of this Notice. In the statement of specifications, the supplier must unequivocally demonstrate how their equipment, at minimum, equals, or exceeds the stated requirements.

If no other supplier submits a statement of specifications, on or before the closing date of this Notice, the competitive requirements of the University of Ottawa will be considered having been met. Following notification to any suppliers not successful in unequivocally demonstrating that their statement of specifications equals or exceeds the requirements set out in this Notice, the contract may then be awarded to the pre-identified supplier.

INTENDED USE:
These components will be integrated into the existing robotics system located in the High Throughput Screening Laboratory of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute and be compatible with the Genera automation software from Retisoft and the Columbus Image Analysis system.

FUNCTIONALITY:
The equipment must conform to the following Minimum Requirements:

3 installed water objectives with at least 63X objective as highest resolution objective.
Internal automated water control for objectives
Capable of FRET imaging acquisition plus imaging of at least 2 extra fluorescent channels.
4 cameras capable of simultaneous imaging with optics to prevent bleed through of neighboring fluorescent channels
temperature and CO2 controlled chamber for live imaging
4 lasers to excite fluorescent molecules in blue, green, near red and far red spectrum of standard biochemical secondary antibodies
Laser focusing
capable of imaging slides to 1536 well plates
LED for brightfield and phase contrast images
Low resolution prescan software to accurately locate objects in X,Y and Z dimension for subsequent high resolution imaging to minimize scan time and 3D object acquisition image file size
3D visualization and analysis software that can provide 3D analysis scripts to run in Columbus Image Analysis system
Compatible with Columbus Image Analysis system
Compatible with existing Genera Robotics controlling software

Supplier: Perkin Elmer

Justification:

No other competitor has the speed, signal sensitivity of image detection and resolution of images as the Opera Phenix
Compatible with existing Columbus Image Analysis server
Compatible with existing Genera Robotics controlling software
