This Request for Proposals (RFP) is a public invitation by the University of Ottawa (University/Owner) to aquatic equipment vendors (Proponents) to submit proposals to supply, deliver and install state-of-the-art, pre-packaged aquatic racks for Zebrafish and the associated Life Support Systems (LSS) as part the University of Ottawa’s renovation of its Aquatic Research Facility at STEM (Project).
The aquatic equipment vendor will be required to coordinate all work prior to and during installation of the equipment with the General Contractor engaged on the project, and other contractors or consultants as required by the work.
The Project includes but is not limited to, the following scope of work:
Supply and install of all aquatic equipment as per the drawings and specifications in Appendix I – Section 130300 Aquatic Research Racks and Associated Life Support Systems (LSS).
Supply, deliver, install, and commission the aquatic equipment at the University of Ottawa’s STEM Complex, 150 Louis Pasteur Pvt., 6th floor.
Equipment and systems are to be fully tested, commissioned and functional when installed. Proponents are to provide an equipment layout to illustrate that proposed equipment and systems are within the provided spaces in the room data sheets (Refer to: Appendix I – Section 130300 Aquatic Research Racks and Associated Life Support Systems (LSS)) Room sizes identified in the layouts are approximate. Proponents are to indicate in the proposal if significant changes to the room sizes are required.
The Owner is an educational institution and will remain fully operational during the construction period. As such the implementation of this project will require a holistic approach to minimize disruptions and maximize efficiencies.
Work is to be performed in accordance with the contract documents, in the most expeditious and economical manner and at the lowest possible cost to the Owner consistent with the interests of the Owner. The construction of the project will be performed by a general contractor designated as "Constructor" pursuant to the Ontario Health and Safety legislation. The aquatic equipment vendor acknowledges that the work it will perform, shall be under the total control of a General Contractor who has assumed overall responsibility for compliance with all aspects of the applicable health and safety legislation, including all the responsibilities of the “Constructor” under the OHSA, and the responsibility to co-ordinate and schedule work activities under its Contract. The aquatic equipment vendor agrees to comply with the Constructor’s directions and instructions with respect to health, safety, co-ordination, and scheduling, and acknowledges that its failure to do so is grounds for termination. The General Contractor as the “Constructor” will sign a CCDC2, 2008 Stipulated Price Contract and the University of Ottawa’s Supplementary Conditions to the CCDC2, 2008.
The aquatic equipment vendor must be capable of performing the work in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (OADA), and their regulations.
The STEM 6th floor space requires construction to be ready for the aquatic equipment installation. Schedule to be determined.
