Description

McMaster University invites qualified bidders to submit responses for the supply of a water tunnel facility in accordance with the terms of this Request for Proposals.

This experimental research grade water tunnel facility will be dedicated to investigating the interaction of unsteady and turbulent flows with energy systems. In particular, investigation of unsteady loading and flow physics pertaining to bluff bodies and compliant structures in unsteady turbulent flows; development of dynamical models for unsteady turbulent flow which leverage data driven approaches; novel investigation of physics-inspired methods for adaptive control which integrate model reduction techniques for system health sensor training (smart systems).

The essential capabilities of the water tunnel infrastructure supporting the research activities encompass the capacity to experimentally generate incoming flow unsteadiness/turbulence, achieving of flow speeds relevant to industrial applications, and interfacing a testing section with optically clear access for measurement techniques such as Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) enabling direct velocity measurements in the flow.
Bidders must quote the entire bid. Partial bids will not be accepted.

All Proponents must have obtained the RFP from www.Merx.com (MERX®). Failure to have obtained the RFP from MERX®. will result in disqualification.

Proposals must be submitted through McMaster University’s online Bonfire portal at:

Submissions by other methods will not be accepted.
Minimum system requirements are Internet Explorer 8/9/10+, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. Javascript must be enabled.

Proposals must be uploaded and finalized on or before the Submission Deadline set out in the RFP Timetable.
Uploading large documents may take significant time, depending on file size and internet connection speed. It is strongly recommended that proponents allow sufficient time of at least one (1) hour before the Submission Deadline to upload documents and finalize their submissions.
Proponents will receive an email confirmation receipt with a unique confirmation number upon finalizing their submissions.

The maximum upload file size is 1000 MB.
