FRENCH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (“FSL”) COMMUNITY HUB WITH AGGREGATED CONTENT FROM FSL REPOSITORIES INCLUDING AN EXISTING ‘CAMERISE’ WORDPRESS WEBSITE

York is soliciting Proposals from experienced and qualified Proponents for the supply, delivery, implementation, support and maintenance for an FSL online community hub solution.

The current project aims to support the growing demand for FSL teachers in Ontario. The project has been commissioned by Canadian Heritage with the purpose of seeking to identify the impact and value of FSL teacher recruitment and retention, and to contribute to building the FSL community as a whole. As part of this agenda, the current project will:

Create a hub for open knowledge, educational resources and a social network to support the FSL community in Ontario and Canada. The hub shall provide two main features: 1) archive French OER materials submitted by the community, and 2) facilitate access to learning materials via aggregation of open content from different sites;

Work to create a community that engages different stakeholders as active users, contributors, and evaluators of shared knowledge and best practices. The website will support the growth of a community of practice by allowing users to find and speak with other users in forums and chat rooms. This will allow them to collaborate and create content that then can be used/remixed and shared by others. There will be a credentialing feature that allows users to become certified

Engage, lead, and mentor the largest number of actors possible, while fostering inclusion of these diverse stakeholders, and ensuring accessibility to all;

Address the structural issues that pose barriers to FSL teachers’ recruitment and retention.

York’s preference is to award one (1) qualified and experienced Proponent for the Work outlined in this RFP.

York will only consider Proposal submissions received from Proponents who have registered with MERX (www.MERX.com) for this competitive bid. Proposal submissions from Proponents who have not registered and obtained this Bid Document directly from MERX will be disqualified.
