McMaster University invites qualified bidders to submit responses for the supply of a schoolwork and testing management tool for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in accordance with the terms of this Request for Proposals.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster University currently teaches over 20,000 students each academic year. Many courses offered within the department have hundreds of students, including some that have over a thousand students. Homework assignments, midterm tests, and final exams are primarily used to assess the abilities of our students, so grading and managing these assessments in a timely manner is a challenge within our department. While many of these assessments can be distributed and graded by a computer, we are currently using a number of different systems for this process. We are looking for proposals for an on-line platform that can be used to manage both homework and tests for multiple courses within the department. Moreover, this platform must have the flexibility to meet the unique challenges of testing and assessing content in mathematics and statistics.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster is seeking proposals for a schoolwork and test management tool. Given the number of students taught by the department, we require an efficient tool that will allow instructors to assess their students using a wide variety of modalities, and at the same time, return response to students quickly. We are seeking a platform that can be used for a number of diverse courses, that will also provide a level of standardization for both students and instructors. It is important that both the list of courses served by the platform and their content can be easily modified. Moreover, the tool will have the flexibility so that it is not linked to a particular textbook.
This RFP is accepting proposals for a web-based tool to efficiently handle the distribution and grading of tests and assessments and at the same, provide instructors with the flexibility to meet the teaching objectives of their courses. The homework and testing management tool must be adaptable to a wide variety of mathematics courses to provide a common experience across most mathematics and statistics classes. Furthermore, the system should have the ability to integrate into current McMaster online tools (e.g. Mosaic and Avenue2Learn). More requirements are described below. Although this RFP is being put forward by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, it is possible that other departments may also want to use this tool for some of their courses.
