Description

Background and Purpose
McMaster University invites qualified suppliers to submit proposals for security guard service and alarm response in accordance with the terms of this Proposal Call.

McMaster University Security Services (MUSS) is committed to providing a safe and secure environment which involves the protection of persons and property at McMaster University locations. MUSS operates as a Special Constable program that is supplemented by private Security Guards. The Security Guards are responsible for monitoring, patrolling McMaster properties and responding to incidents to provide direction and support, including filing activity logs and incident reports after each shift and or patrol period.

Security Guards are required at:

One James Street North, Hamilton,
David Braley Health Sciences Centre, 100 Main St W Hamilton,
The Ron Joyce Centre, 4350 South Service Road, Burlington, and
McMaster Main Campus Libraries at 1280 Main Street West, Hamilton,

Security Guards will also be required to monitor all McMaster University alarm systems. The Security Guard contract will fall under the direction of McMaster University Security Services, Director of Security and the Senior Manager of Security.

Scope/Objective
A Security Guard is required to provide security and assistance for our students, staff, faculty and visitors and to be on site at the above three (3) satellite locations for, on average, 16 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Weekend work at these sites also takes place as and when required.
After hours, a mobile response is required for all alarms / events.

In addition to the above three (3) satellite locations, McMaster University requires security guard services during study periods in the campus libraries located on main campus to ensure safety and security of students and library facilities during these study periods. A Security Guard will be required at each of the three (3) McMaster Main Campus libraries during the Fall Term and Winter Term with an intensified Security Guard presence during examination periods during each term.

In addition, McMaster University hosts special events that require additional Security Guards on the Main University Campus. For example, events such as the Ride to Conquer Cancer, the North American Indigenous Game and McMaster Student Union events require additional security requirements and Security Guards. The Proponent will be required to meet this demand for additional security guards when required.

Finally, due to the expanding satellite campus locations, McMaster University is requiring the services of a dedicated security supervisor to ensure all locations are operating to McMaster University Security Services standards. This Supervisory position is to be no more than a .5 or 20 hour per week requirement of dedicated McMaster work.
