Description

McMaster University has a requirement for the purchase of a nano-testing system for "Pioneering Nanoindentation at Extreme Temperatures with a Unique High-Temperature Testing System”. The nano-testing system should be capable of multifunctional micro-mechanical testing and offer indentation, scratch/wear, impact/erosion, and tribology testing modes. In order to fulfill McMaster University’s research needs, the system must accommodate a minimum force threshold of 30 N and temperatures of 1200°C. The system will be used to evaluate cutting tool coatings under extreme operating conditions in groundbreaking manufacturing, materials and nuclear research, including assessments of repetitive high strain-rate contact and erosive wear behaviour.
