Background

Currently, McMaster University does not have a mobile application geared toward providing students with the information they need to be healthy, happy, and up-to-date with happenings on campus.
McMaster University is seeking information on potential solutions for a high quality, user friendly, and scalable mobile (smartphone/tablet) application as part of its mobile strategy and to offer potential flexible solutions to design and create an interactive and personalized mobile experience for the University community. Solutions would need to take into account the existing digital eco-system of the University.

The mobile application shall integrate with the following systems and applications currently in use at the University:

Student Information System: Oracle PeopleSoft (Mosaic) Campus Solutions

View class information and schedule
View grades
View fees owing/paid/balance
View exam schedule and information
View financial aid and awards information (amounts awarded/term/description)

Learning Management System: Avenue-to-Learn (App: Brightspace Pulse)

Notification integration from Pulse to top-level mobile application
Single sign-on (drawn from top-level application)
Use splash screen to aid navigation

Other functionality should include the following:

Provide a personalized and customizable home screen
Subscription-based feature options
Customizable notification (opt-in, opt-out, add/remove, etc.)
Campus maps and support for wayfinding (location services)
Links to social media, Daily News (web), calendar
Voice to text translation
In-app instant messaging
Suggestion box functionality
Feature rating system
