Background and Purpose
This Request for Proposals (“RFP”) is an invitation by McMaster University to prospective proponents to submit proposals for the provision of strategic counsel services related to a forthcoming comprehensive fundraising campaign, the University’s first in over 14 years.
University Advancement (UA) at McMaster University is an integrated department that encompasses the areas of Development, Alumni Engagement, Advancement Communications & Donor Relations, and Advancement Services & Operations, working collaboratively with McMaster’s faculties and units across campus to build relationships and resources on behalf of the University.
Over 100 advancement professionals work either directly within central UA or in faculties and units across campus. The team is currently in the “quiet” period of campaign planning, working to build the infrastructure and donor base needed to make it a success.
Bidders must quote the entire bid. Partial bids will not be accepted.
Scope/Objective
McMaster University seeks a qualified supplier with extensive working experience on fundraising campaigns with capital and endowment goals to:
- Provide advice on overall campaign strategy and alignment with existing annual, major gifts and planned giving activities.
- Provide insight on campaign resources and planning – staff structure, campaign policies, campaign cabinet structure, budget, plan, and recognition.
- Advise on campaign communications, including case for support development.
- Recommend and provide guidance on campaign milestones (date specific objectives for dollars raised, plus supporting benchmarks); recommended key cultivation, solicitation strategies and supporting tactics; specifications for campaign tools, budget and timeline; and recommended evaluation methods.
- Provide guidance to leaders and volunteers on effective campaign practices and fundraising strategies.
- Facilitate behind-the-scenes strategy regarding leadership and prospects.
Term
The term of this agreement is for an initial term of two (2) years with an option to renew for up to an additional three (3) years to be renewed on a yearly basis as required, at McMaster’s sole discretion. The anticipated start date of the contact is October 18, 2024, subject to change at McMaster’s sole discretion.
