The Scopes of Work will vary from building to building and will be determined as OCH
completes the Fire Life Safety (FLS) program audits.
The work involves repair, rehabilitation or alteration to assemblies to restore the hourly
fire resistance rating to openings which have been created or altered over time. The
repair, rehabilitation, or alteration work must comply with the Ontario Fire Code and will
be inspected periodically by Ottawa Fire Services.
The work includes the supply and installation of fire stopping products and materials. The
work includes, but is not limited to the following:
a) Contractor shall review location(s) of work and submit a detailed quotation;
b) Upon review/approval of the quotation, OCH will initiate work with a Purchase
Order to the successful Contractor;
c) Contractor shall submit a Construction Schedule and OCH will coordinate access to
the area(s) of work;
d) Whether rented or owned, the Contractor shall have consistent and timely access to
the tools and equipment necessary to perform the work;
e) Contractor shall provide and coordinate necessary storage facilities. OCH is not
responsible for providing on-site storage;
f) Contractor shall prepare area(s) of Work to receive fire stopping products as
specified and detailed and in accordance with manufacturers printed literature;
g) Contractor shall supply and install fire stopping products and/or materials as
specified and detailed and in accordance with manufacturers printed literature;
h) Contractor shall be responsible to reinstate all areas affected by fire stopping work
including priming and finish painting new fire stop material to match adjacent
surfaces;
i) Materials, including equipment, consumables and waste are to be removed upon
completion of Work;
j) Work shall be subject to review by OCH and deficiencies shall be corrected in a
timely manner;
k) Upon completion of the Work, the Contractor shall submit supporting
documentation to the OCH Representative. Payments will be released upon review
and approval by OCH;
l) If directed by the OCH Issuing Manager, Contractor shall submit digital photos,
properly labelled by location – one (1) photo prior to the fire stopping installation
demonstrating the existing ‘as found’ condition and one (1) photo after the fire
stopping installation demonstrating the final installation;
m) Contractor shall fully insure and warrant work for a period of one (1) year;
