21903 - Snare Breaker Removal & Disposal

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (“NTPC”) is requesting Proposals from qualified bidders (“Proponents”) to remove the 6 primary bushings per breaker, jack and roll 2 of the 6 breakers away from the energized lines, load and safely relocate the breakers and bushings to a salvage facility in Alberta. The breakers are estimated to be 13 feet in diameter and 15 feet high with the bushings installed, 10’6” with the bushing removed. The breakers weigh approximately 35,600lbs with oil and 27000lbs without, please assume one (1) of the six (6) breakers is filled with oil (1870 Imp G), and the rest of the breakers have a minimal amount of oil left in the tanks. Oil analysis done in 2012 indicated the oil contains PCB < 2 PPM it has to be treated as a hazardous material and has to be disposed at the Certified Disposal facility. The successful bidder will have to provide all required and relevant permitting to take the breakers from the Northwest Territories to the facility in Alberta. This work is to take place during the 2019 winter road season.
