Niagara College (the “College”) is seeking a Solar Panel Supplier - Installer (the “SPSI”) to design and construct; from industry-standard materials and equipment; a solar-photovoltaic powered “Micro Grid”. Lithium technology is to be the only option for energy storage. This Micro Grid is to be used by academic programs within the Schools of Trade and Technology for enhancement and hands-on learning purposes. The SPSI shall collaborate with the College to ensure the Micro Grid meets its current needs and allows for future improvements.

The SPSI shall provide the following:

Solar Panel Supply and Installation, including all associated equipment and electrical connections and Charging Station (Appendix A - Specifications).
Adhere to all applicable building, electrical and safety codes and ordinances.
Assist the College with implementation and setup of the Micro Grid
All safety certifications and licenses
Orientation to College staff and students as appropriate
Remote and onsite (web based) troubleshooting within the first 6 months following start-up

Access to online resources, for monitoring and teaching purposes
Install online (web based)-accessible Weather Station which includes solar irradiance tracking which is accessible to Niagara College’s network.

Technical drawings (Engineered Certified); manuals and documentation for all installed equipment and services, as well as structural and civil engineering requirements regarding solar panel footing support, framing, and etc.
Site Preparation according to specifications provided (Appendix A - Specifications)
AODA compliant installation
Completion Date of August 24, 2018

The Micro Grid system shall allow students to have access to the connections to facilitate a learning environment. The equipment shall be serviceable, in other words, to allow uncertified personnel to safely test connections and the equipment for educational purposes. The Micro Grid must charge lithium battery banks and include a capacity for one week non-productive days (cloudy, no solar charge).
