Greenstone is looking to engage an experienced partner that will design our gateway community entrances in the Wards of Longlac and Beardmore.
The Community Gateway Design is to make our “gateway communities” more attractive to visitors and also renew a sense of pride within the municipality. There are three primary objectives to the design project; 1. Design the entrances to the communities of Longlac and Beardmore along Highway 11 in the municipality of Greenstone. In Longlac the property that we are looking at designing is the Tourist Information Centre as it sits on a large piece of property with green space and a few structures. The structures include: 2 tug boats, a skate park, flag poles, 2 structures with welcome to Longlac signs & local business maps and a large vertical sign that says information centre. In Beardmore the property is where the Snowman sits with a few structures there as well. The structures include: a welcome to Beardmore sign, a snowman, a cenotaph and a wooden structure. The challenge will be to incorporate a design that ties into the existing structures as well as incorporate the new brand “Nature’s Home Town”. 2. Work with the existing document “The Tourism Strategy and Marketing Plan”, as it identifies Greenstone as Nature’s Home Town and incorporate the new brand strategy in the design concept. The Tourism Strategy and Marketing Plan can be available upon request. 3. Ensure the design concepts are positioned to maximize benefits of attracting visitors to our communities and to capitalize on economic growth. E.g. spending more time in the communities, etc. The selected partner will have a significant demonstrated experience in design management of major projects valued at more than $1 million.
