Mount Royal University(MRU) is looking for an engagement with a telephony consulting firm to assess our current telephony environment, gather user requirements, and then propose a unified communication strategy and technical solution that will address the present and future needs of MRU.

Our existing telephony environment consists of an Avaya PBX system and a Cisco Voice over IP(VoIP) phone system. Due to the complex requirements of our University environment, both phone systems are used to address different requirements.
The Avaya PBX is used to connect to the phone service provider via 4 PRI and provide phone connectivity to the following components:

All phones in our PCI environment (phone that process credit card transactions)
Multiple small call centres
Emergency phones
Connectivity to the Cisco VoIP system

The Cisco VoIP system provides phone connectivity and voicemail capabilities to most users on campus. Users connect to this system through various models of Cisco phones, Cisco Jabber soft phone and analog services such as FAX through an aging VG248 group of devices.
We are looking to replace our existing system to address various components that are approaching end of life or support and to provide the modern capabilities, flexibility and features of newer telephony systems that can address our present and future requirements.

Scope of work:

An assessment of current on premise telephony environment at MRU
Network architecture review
Stakeholder interviews to collect requirements
A strategy roadmap and technical proposal that would support the present and future telephony and telecommunication needs of MRU.
Recommendations for process improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
Provide support in the development of a RFX Document for the implementation of a new telephony system
