Project Description:
The Bruce Middle School Woodshop Renovation project is primarily comprised of the
enlargement of an existing woodshop in room 8 into the adjacent art classroom in room 9.
The art program will be moved from room 9 into an existing classroom, room 14, where minor
renovations will take place. The Work takes place in rooms along the north hallway within the
building. The size of the renovation is approximately 4,790 sq. ft. (plus minor site work).
Renovation work in the theatre and adjacent canteen may be added to the Scope of Work
through Alternate Pricing.
Work in the woodshop includes removal of an existing non-loadbearing concrete block wall,
construction of new partitions for a finishing room, new and modified millwork, removal of
existing vinyl tile flooring, and new finishes throughout. Mechanical work includes removal
and replacement of the existing dust collection system and minor plumbing/ventilation
modifications. Electrical work includes new light fixtures, and power supply for new and
relocated equipment.
Work in room 14 includes a new opening in the existing exterior wall for a new window, minor
plumbing and electrical work, and various cosmetic upgrades such as new ceiling tile and
paint finishes.
Work in the Theatre and Canteen, via Alternate Price, includes removal of existing wood tier
seating, construction of partition walls and new flooring.
Bid Closing Date: before 2:00pm local time, on Thursday, May 31st, 2018, as designated
by CBC radio.

Documents will also available through the Winnipeg Construction Association, and Condata.
Hard copy documents will be available by noon on Monday, May 14th, 2018.
Site Examination:
A mandatory site examination meeting for General Contract bidders with the Consultant and
Owner’s representatives has been scheduled for 2:30pm on Thursday, May 17th, 2018 at the
location of Bruce Middle School, 333 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Bidders shall meet at
the front office.
Bid security requirements: Bid bond - 10% (ten percent) of the Bid Price, with Consent of
Surety, to accompany Bids.
