DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK:
Manitoba Hydro requires the Contractor to provide emergency and non-emergency aquatic environmental information collection and assessment services on an as and when required basis.
Emergency work may arise when a legislative or regulatory need for immediate action is experienced (e.g., Fisheries Act duty to intervene) or when there is an immediate need for action associated with a project (e.g., projects put on hold due to discovery of a sensitive aquatic ecosystem issues like discovery of a sensitive aquatic ecosystem issues like discovery of a species at risk in the area). The Contractor must be capable of mobilizing and being present on site in less than 24 hours if required.
Non-emergency environmental service requirement scenarios would occur as part of routine project planning and, depending on the scope, scale, and timing needs, a response time of two weeks would be targeted. Shorter response times may be identified as required.
The Services include the following activities and deliverables (non-exhaustive):
- Hydroelectric generating station draft tube/scroll case fish salvages
- General fish salvages
- DIDSON surveys
- Fish passage/movement monitoring
- Water quality sampling
- Fish population sampling
- Benthic macro-invertebrate sampling
- Fish mercury sampling
- Aquatic habitat survey and/or mapping
- Aquatic invasive species monitoring
