DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK:
Manitoba Hydro requires the services of a quantity surveyor to provide cost estimates for renovations and new construction projects, and to provide an independent third-party assessment of contractor claims. It is anticipated the term of the Contract will be one three (3) year term, with the possibility to extend for an additional two (2) one (1) year terms based on mutual agreement between contracting parties.
In order to achieve goals in terms of cost effectiveness, Manitoba Hydro intends to engage a Quantity Surveyor Services firm to provide impartial cost estimating services that will achieve the following:
(a) More timely cost information at the feasibility stages of a project, saving Manitoba Hydro effort and resulting in better decision-making and more efficient use of resources.
(b) More cost-effective decision making throughout a project, evaluating the cost impact of contemplated project changes during construction, without distracting and incurring costs from the contractor.
(c) Construction Management contract claims are reasonable, protecting Manitoba Hydro from over-priced change orders.
(d) Better project cost control, by checking contractor claims to protect against over-pricing, and to provide a basis for disputing over-priced claims.
