Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living (MHSAL) is soliciting Professional Services Contract Proposals in response to Request for Proposal (RFP) # MHSAL-2018-0012 to provide clinical biochemist consulting services to the Medical Director of Cadham Provincial Laboratory (CPL) for a two year contract with an optional one year extension, anticipated to commence May 1, 2018.
CPL is a key support to central public health programs through laboratory screening, detection, characterization and surveillance. CPL staff provide strategic and operational advice relating to public health and screening programs, surveillance activities, public health laboratory programming and its interface with the broader health system, research, regulated health professions and other matters pertinent to public health and to the Department of MHSAL.
CPL operates three biochemistry-based screening programs; Newborn Screening (NBS), Maternal Serum Screening (MSS), and Fecal Occult Blood for Colon Cancer Screening, the latter in partnership with Cancer Care Manitoba.
The NBS program is a highly complex universally-applied public health program. A clinical biochemist consultant with experience in managing and/or consulting for state or province-level Newborn Screening Programs is sought to provide expert level guidance that assures quality systems, maintains accreditation, evaluates emerging technologies, sets modern evidence-based policy and implements novel screening strategies.
