Full Title: Supply and Installation of New PVC Swimming Pool Membrane and Associated Works - 2015 Main Street
D2. SCOPE OF WORK
D2.1 The Work to be done under the Contract shall consist of the supply and installation of
new 60 mil PVC pool membrane and associated Works at Kildonan Park Outdoor Pool – 2015 Main Street.
D2.2 The major components of the Work are as follows:
(a) To remove and dispose off site the existing PVC membrane and all of its associated pool
components from existing concrete pool tank walls and floor.
(b) Provide means of disposal and storage of disposed materials, debris and other materials in
close proximity to the pool work site.
(c) To complete all necessary localized repairs to existing concrete pool substrate surfaces to
accept new pool PVC membrane and associated pool components, as required. Deterioration of exposed
concrete surfaces are readily identified by sounding surveys (hammer sounding) and visual
inspection. This test method is a powerful tool for identifying, mapping and quantifying
deterioration within the cast-in-place concrete, and recognized by the American Concrete Institute
and the International Concrete Repair Institute.
(d) All the above work identified in D2.2(c) shall be covered in Part E, in conformance with
Clause E3 Cash Allowance for Additional Work. For the purposes of budgeting and planning for cash
allowance as specified in Clause E3, the Contract Administrator recommends allowance for a 20%
increase in area to account for growth in the size of the repair area which inevitably occurs
during demolition.
(e) Any additional testing methods such as compressive strength, tensile bond, chloride-ion
concentration, air void analysis, etc., if required, shall be the responsibility of the City.
(f) To broom clean, tidy and sanitize pool surfaces and void of all loose debris as required to
accommodate new PVC pool membrane, as per manufacturers specifications and written instructions.
(g) Application of new 60mil PVC pool membrane at pool tank floors and walls, termination to be
at top of pool walls below coping, as per manufacturers specifications and written installation
instructions.
(h) All penetrations shall be terminated with compression flanges.
(i) Complete additional perimeter caulking, detail work, finish work to make a complete
watertight installation.
(j) To supply and install pool products which shall include, but not limited to the following:
PVC coated weld track, 150 mil anti-microbial fleece underlay membrane, 60 mil nylon reinforced PVC
membrane lining, compression flanges and liquid PVC seam sealer.
(k) Replacement of main drain, skimmers, return outlets/heads and related piping which were
found to be in deteriorated condition following demolition of existing pool liner in pool tank. to
meet the current requirements of the plumbing code as well as the Public Health Act and Regulation
MR132/97.
(l) Bonding/grounding of pool components as required by electrical code and the Public Health
Act and Regulation MR132/97.
(m) To supply and install depth markings and demarcation lines on vertical walls and pool base
floor at required points.
(n) To supply and install quantity of five (5) racing lines and end targets.
(o) Pool and deck markings conforming to 2015 City of Winnipeg Accessibility Design Standards
(WADS) and Manitoba Health Swimming Pools and Other Water Recreational Facilities Regulation (MR
132/97).
(p) Water pressure tests for the supply, return and main drains for any potential leaks and
commissioning of new membrane and all new pool components.
(q) Final complete vacuuming, cleaning and washing of all surfaces affected by demolition and
construction work suitable for pool filling.
(r) Drawings presented in Part E, Clause E1, are provided as an aid, and all information in them shall
be verified by the Contractor to ensure accuracy. Any changes resulting from
renovations, maintenance, damage or deterioration since that time would not be included.
