D3. SCOPE OF WORK
D3.1 The Work to be done under the Contract shall consist of two parts:
(a) Part 1 – City Funded Work
(b) Part 2 – Manitoba Hydro Funded Work.
Part 1 – City Funded Work
D3.2 Part 1 – City Funded Work shall consist of:
(a) Concrete Pavement Reconstruction
(i) Johnson Avenue West from Henderson Hwy to Levis Street
(b) Watermain Renewal
(i) Johnson Avenue W from Henderson Hwy to mid-block between Brazier St and Roch St.
(ii) Brazier Street from Gordon Avenue to Chalmers Avenue
(iii) Levis Street from Poplar Ave/Johnson Ave W alley to Watt Street
(iv) Watt Street from 80.0m NNL Thames Avenue to Chalmers Avenue
Part 2 – Manitoba Hydro Funded Work
D3.3 Part 2 – Manitoba Hydro Funded Work shall consist of:
(a) Street Lighting Renewal
(i) Johnson Avenue West from Henderson Hwy to Levis Street
D3.4 The City currently has no approved funding in the Capital Budget for Part 2 of the
Work, but is anticipating receiving notification about funding from Manitoba Hydro by late May.
Part 2 of the Work is contingent upon Manitoba Hydro approving sufficient funding.
D3.4.1 Further to C7.1, if notice of sufficient funding is not received, the City shall
have the right to eliminate all or any portion of Part 2, and the Contract Price will be reduced
accordingly.
D3.4.2 Further to C7.5, C7.5.1, and C7.6, a reduction in the Contract Price pursuant to
D3.4.1 shall not be considered in calculating the aggregate reduction in the Contract Price for
purposes of C7.5.
D3.4.3 If all or any portion of Part 2 is eliminated pursuant to D3.4.1, the time
periods stipulated in D23 for Substantial Performance of the Work and in D24 for Total Performance
of the Work will be reduced proportionally by the Contract Administrator acting reasonably.
D3.5 The major components of the Work are as follows:
(a) Concrete Pavement Reconstruction
(i) Installation of Catch Basins and connecting Sewer Pipes;
(ii) Pavement Removal;
(iii) Trolley Track Concrete Bedding and Rail Tie Removal;
(iv) Excavation;
(v) Subgrade compaction;
(vi) Installation of Subdrains;
(vii) Insulation of Water Services;
(viii) Placement of Geotextile Fabric;
(ix) Placement of Sub-Base and Base Course material;
(x) Placement of Geogrid;
(xi) Construction of 230 mm Concrete Pavement (plain-dowelled) with slip form paving equipment;
(xii) Construction of 180 mm Barrier Curb with slip form paving equipment;
(xiii) Construction of 180 mm Modified Barrier Curb at radii;
(xiv) Construction of Ramp Curbs;
(xv) Installation of Detectable Warning Tiles;
(xvi) Construction of 150 mm – 200 mm Concrete Approaches (reinforced);
(xvii) Construction of Asphalt tie ins;
(xviii) Sidewalk Removal;
(xix) Construction of 100 mm concrete sidewalk;
(xx) Installation of MMA marking for sidewalk way-finding banding;
(xxi) Adjustment of existing Catch Basins, Manholes and Appurtenances;
(xxii) Modification to existing Overhead Sign Structure;
(xxiii) Restoration of Boulevard;
(xxiv) Installation of Traffic Signals Conduit, Concrete Bases; Service Boxes and Ground Rods;
and
(xxv) Removal of Concrete Bases.
(b) Water Main Renewal
(i) Installation of 150 mm and 200 mm PVC Pipe;
(ii) Installation of Hydrant Assemblies, Gate Valves, and Other Appurtenances;
(iii) Reconnection of Water Services;
(iv) Tie into existing Water Mains;
(v) Removal of existing Hydrants;
(vi) Abandonment of existing Gate Valves;
(vii) Flushing Hydrostatic Leakage Testing, and Disinfection of new Water Main; and
(viii) Restoration of Pavement and Sidewalk.
(c) Street Lighting Renewals
(i) Component Removal of existing street light poles and bases; and
(ii) Installation of conduit, bases and poles.
