082021-2 - Enhancing Indigenous Participation for Canada's 2030 Agenda (SDGs)

ECO Canada is looking to develop a 3-day training course to support Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in building awareness and identifying tangible outcomes to improve the well being of their communities.  It will be based on the framework outlined by the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Canada’s commitment under the 2030 Agenda.

The training course and supporting materials will be deliverable in-person to general and Indigenous audiences and will conform to ECO Canada’s BEAHR (Building Environmental Aboriginal Human Resources) course format.  This programming will be developed to ensure relevance for all provinces and territories across Canada.

ECO Canada seeks qualified and experienced proponents to:
 

1. Conduct background research that includes consultations with subject matter experts, Indigenous stakeholders, and policy makers.  The consultations can be virtual or in person and will function to disseminate information and collect inputs for the curriculum. 
2. Develop curriculum and framework for a 3-day training course, with guidelines for how the subjects could be integrated into Indigenous programs and Indigenous socioeconomic activities.
3. Leverage the background research, curriculum and framework to develop a full 3-day Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) training course (including an instructor guide, student guide, PowerPoint and other training material) that conforms to ECO Canada’s BEAHR course format.  While the course content will be deliverable to general audiences, it should also be made relevant to Indigenous communities by integrating local and Traditional Knowledge into the approaches and efforts to achieve Agenda 2030, ensuring Canada’s progress on the 2030 Agenda leaves no one behind.   
4. Develop a tool kit for measuring performance/integrating SDG goals in community planning. The document will contain strategies, exercises, activities, graphics, and resources to support Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in implementing the SDGs in their communities.
5. Work with ECO Canada to review the developed materials and provide feedback.
6. Deliver a 2-day Train-the-Trainer session in Calgary if possible, or via Zoom if needed in the event of ongoing COVID-19 related restrictions.  This session will ensure that ECO Canada’s instructors are able to deliver the new material.
