SDGGE - Update on What's New in Procurement at DCC

Update on what’s new in procurement at Defence Construction Canada 

Defence Construction Canada (DCC) wants to inform the industry of the impact of the Standard on the Disclosure of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and the Setting of Reduction Targets, prior to DCC implementing any modification to new solicitations (for contract opportunities >$25M).

DCC will be hosting online information sessions regarding the recent Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat standard. Environment and Climate Change Canada will participate in the sessions and provide information on the Net-Zero Challenge.

This standard requires that DCC: “Ensure that the process for procurements over $25 million, including taxes, induces suppliers (contractors and consultants) to measure and disclose their greenhouse gas emissions and adopt a science-based target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement as part of participating in the Net-Zero Challenge or in an equivalent initiative or standard.”

The sessions will describe: the requirements of the standard, how DCC intends to incorporate these requirements into upcoming contract opportunities and detailed information on the Net-Zero Challenge initiative.

DCC would like to invite any interested parties to register for the online information sessions which will be held on:

July 4, 2024 at 1:30pm EST for the English session
July 4, 2024 at 3:30pm EST for the French session.

The sessions will be hosted on Microsoft Teams and will be scheduled for approximately 1 hour. If you would like to participate, please register by contacting orocontracting@dcc-cdc.gc.ca and including the subject line “Registration for TB standard info session” include your company name and the time of which session you would like to take part in.  You will then receive a link to the information session by return correspondence.
