As the Construction Manager and Constructor on the Chaudiere Crossing project, Construction DeMathieu & Bard (CDB) Inc. is requesting proposals for the complete rehabilitation of Union Bridge and Widening of the Hull Causeway, between Ottawa and Gatineau over the Ottawa River. For the rehabilitation of Union Bridge the scope of work includes, but is not limited to, removal and replacement of the reinforced concrete deck and sidewalk, structural steel repairs and replacement of stringers, structural steel coating up to 2m above the road deck, jacking, new bearings, reconstruction of: ballast walls, bearing seats and retaining walls, and the rehabilitation of the abutment wall faces. For the widening of the Hull Causeway, the scope or work includes, but is not limited to, removal of the existing west deck overhang and widening of the concrete deck including new bearings, installation of new girder 5, widening of the reinforced concrete substructure at Pier 1, construction of the North Approach Abutment including new foundations, new concrete barriers, and a new raised cycle track. The scope of works also includes various works common to both structures including but not limited to railings, bridge deck waterproofing, raised concrete cycle track, structural excavation, support of excavation (SOE), roadworks, waterproofing and hot mix paving.
