The Deep River District Hospital (DRDH) provides a range of health care services including Family Health Team (FHT), primary care services and an acute care hospital with 24-hour emergency services. DRDH’s patients, residents and clients come from an area within a 50-kilometer radius which covers the Town of Deep River, part of the Town of Petawawa, and the Townships of Laurentian Hills and Head, Clara and Maria.
DRDH operates the North Renfrew Family Health Team (North Renfrew FHT) as the Primary Care business unit of the organization and is currently connected to the DRDH campus. The North Renfrew FHT provides access to a number of primary health care services from family doctors, nurse practitioners, registered practical nurses, social workers, dietitians and other allied health professionals who work collaboratively to deliver patient-centered care. Each member of the North Renfrew FHT’s interdisciplinary team utilizes their experience and skills so that user groups and patients receive the very best care.
Deep River District Hospital, which operates the North Renfrew Family Health Team, is constructing a new 11,000 sq.ft. single-story Primary Care Building to meet the rising needs of the community. The expansion and redevelopment will provide a continuum of care from primary health to hospital to long term care, all on one site. The hospital will rebrand to incorporate the concept of this continuum of care and a central health hub for the community. Post Covid thinking has shown that an efficient coordinated hub of health to support a community is beneficial in many ways. Effective patient care, information sharing, resource sharing, streamlined governance, all will contribute to a successful future for the residents of Deep River and adjacent communities.
