Description

W. Ross Macdonald School (WRMS), located at 350 Brant Ave., was founded in March 1872 in Brantford, Ontario. It provides instruction from kindergarten to secondary school graduation for blind and deafblind students.

The purpose of the project is to complete the construction to upgrade the existing outdoor running track at WRMS to meet IAAF standards. While the intent is to meet the standard, IAAF Certification will not be pursued. This will allow the facility to be used for training/practice, but not international IAAF competitions.

The project will be inclusive of the following features:

Removal of existing track
Grade revisions and additions to facilitate new track and field
Supply and installation of new 6 lane 400m running track complete with synthetic rubberized running track surface
Running track surface will be inclusive of high contrasting lanes
Natural Turf Sports Field within the track
Drainage for the track and field
Scoreboard, Timing System and Pedestrian Lighting
Irrigation System
Spectator and Athlete Seating
Accessible Pathway
Supply and Installation of retaining wall

It is anticipated that construction will commence in July 2021 and will be completed no later than August 24, 2022.
