2024 - Review of Roadside Survey Methodologies

The objective of the project is a report that includes the following major activities:

1. Survey of Canadian jurisdictions to better understand the challenges faced in planning a survey, aligning strategic partnerships and the operationalization of the survey. As part of the survey, consultation and engagement with experts in the field of law enforcement, legal, and public health to gain their insights and recommendations on challenges is an important component;
2. Literature review to better understand what jurisdictions outside of Canada do to collect these types of critical data;
3. Production of a report with the following:
   1. Results of the jurisdictional survey
   2. Results of the literature review
   3. Identify the challenges to the current survey protocol
   4. Provide recommendations for amendments to current survey protocol methodology to address challenges
   5. Recommendations take into account need to ensure comparability with previous surveys
   6. Report includes looking at research opportunities i.e. smaller jurisdictions, daytime surveys and commercial surveys, etc.
