Description

CAF-FCA requires a contractor to produce annual labour market information (LMI) and data for 2019, 2020 and 2021, and develop three national reports about apprenticeship supply and demand. The latest data sources available should be used. The reports will provide the following information:

National Overview: A national overview of apprenticeship supply and demand, including a number of potential apprentices needed to meet future demand in specific trades.
Trades in Demand: The Red Seal trades where the apprentice supply is sufficient/insufficient to meet demand.
Mobility Insights: The provinces/territories requiring apprentices to meet labour force requirements will be identified, highlighting opportunities for mobility across Canada.
Regional Analysis: Regional analysis will be provided if the jurisdictions are able to provide data to support it.
Under-represented Groups: Insights about how the Indigenous and immigrant populations are contributing/could contribute to meeting Canada’s overall skilled trades requirements.

The reports will be published on the CAF-FCA website and will help employers, educators, apprenticeship administrators, equity groups and labour representatives understand apprenticeship labour market trends. Information about in-demand trades will be presented in a series of videos, which will be distributed to youth, parents and educators as a way to enhance greater career awareness.
