CAHRC - 1000/01 - National Workforce Strategy for Agriculture and Food & Beverage Manufacturing

The project will support the future sustainability and growth of the industry through the development of a national workforce strategy. Labour is one of the key issues impacting Canada’s agri‑food sector, including both primary agriculture, and food and beverage manufacturing. The inability to secure a strong and appropriately skilled workforce is now and will continue to limit growth and expansion across both sectors.  Over time, workforce issues will undermine Canada’s food system - affecting food security and national food sovereignty. It will also weaken the economic contributions agri-food makes to regional, provincial/territorial and national economies.

The overall objective of the project is to develop a workforce strategy ensure two key segments of Canada’s food supply chain, agriculture and food and beverage manufacturing, have the workforce needed to support Canada’s food system into the future.
