Patient Registry Inventory Survey and Summary
Disease registries are an established tool in health research with a long history of utility in numerous disease sites and patient clusters.While traditionally regulatory and HTA organizations have relied on randomized controlled trials for the assessment of new health products, increasing awareness of the challenges of trial development for specific patient populations and treatment protocols have led to a wider interest in registries as a tool for providing information to support health care decision-making.

A CADTH environmental scan is being developed to collect and report on existing Canadian registries and to identify key features, characteristics, and intersections. This information and analysis will help CADTH to better understand the potential of Canadian registries to inform decision-making and to identify opportunities for the optimal use of registry data in Canada more broadly.
