Bruce Power has a mandate to complete a major component replacement on 6 of 8 nuclear reactors on site. To successfully achieve this goal, Bruce Power will need to actively collaborate with supplier partners. This includes the delivery of services, equipment, tools and engineering, to maintain accurate and timely information, through integration of supplier schedules with the Bruce Power master schedule. Currently there is no automated way of updating the status of assigned work in the Oracle Primavera P6 (the “P6”).
The Field Actualization solution will interface with P6, allowing activity statuses to be updated from the field. Through an approval process, the updates will be reflected in the master schedule. This will improve collaboration between Bruce Power and its vendors, provide a mechanism for capturing site progress, and establish a process for validation of work complete.
In January 2016, our agreement with the Province of Ontario to extend the life of the Bruce Power site to 2064 took effect. Under the agreement we are required to demonstrate both operational excellence and project excellence with respect to our life-extension and Major Component Replacement projects. Accurate and reliable field actualization of scheduled activities will be critical to project success and, supported by effective and efficient tools and procedures, will be the key to ensuring the repeatable and predictable outcomes that epitomize project excellence.
