SCOPE OF WORK
.1 The Geotechnical Consultant is to provide the services to complete a Geotechnical Investigation of foundations and underlying soil characteristics of two (2) buildings located at the Dwyer Hill Training Centre.
.2 The Geotechnical Consultant shall be responsible for determining the quantity, location, and depth of boreholes required to complete the geotechnical investigation, and to provide an unqualified report that satisfies the criteria outlined herein.
.3 The Geotechnical Consultant will be responsible for reviewing the proposed borehole locations with the Owner and JLR prior to undertaking the geotechnical investigation.
.4 The Geotechnical Consultant shall survey the location of each borehole and provide drawings identifying each borehole with their coordinates and geodetic elevations.
.5 Following the field work and laboratory testing, the data is to be compiled, analyzed, and included in a Geotechnical Report summarizing the site investigation, including design recommendations.
.6 The analysis recommendations for the k-span buildings shall include, but may not be limited to:
• Boreholes to determine the foundations underlying soil composition;
• Expected geotechnical resistance (ULS and SLS);
• Modulus of subgrade reaction for the analysis of slab-on-grades and foundations;
• Site classification for seismic site response;
• Soil parameters for lateral earth pressure;
• Test pits and Concrete cores to determine the foundation geometry (identify slab thickness or additional substructures);
• Concrete scanning to determine structural steel reinforcing layout and size;
• Concrete sampling and testing to determine compressive strength.
.7 The report shall be in accordance with the Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual and the 2015 National Building Code of Canada (NBCC).
.8 The test pits/boreholes are to be backfilled once sampling is complete. All soil cuttings shall be removed and disposed of at the Geotechnical Consultant’s expense.
.9 The Geotechnical Consultant will provide all materials, tools, equipment, labour, and items of a consumable nature as required to execute the work.
.10 The Geotechnical Consultant shall be responsible for coordinating and paying for any and all locates on public and private property required to complete their work.
1.2 ADDITIONAL WORK
.1 Should the Geotechnical consultant require a change in contract price or project schedule to complete additional work, they will submit to the Owner and itemized proposal, prior to proceeding with said work.
.2 Geotechnical Consultant shall receive written authorization from the Owner prior to proceeding with additional work.
